The Stricto Sensu Graduate Program, Academic Master’s Degree in the teaching of the Sciences and Health proposes to produce knowledge in multidisciplinary area and investigates the constructions and teaching practices in formal and non-formal education, analyzing the pedagogical and formative processes relating to teaching and learning in Science and Health, in a continuous and critical way. It comprises scientific, technological, educational and scholastic knowledge, regarding the area, to promote research and educational products intended to teach in different spaces.
The program aims to develop studies and studies, in formal and non-formal education, involving the analysis of practices and pedagogical strategies, the use of technological resources and techniques for diagnostics, planning, development and evaluation. It also aims to articulate a formation in the dimensions of research and practice, by means of digital technologies in dialog with studies on the teaching of Sciences and Health.
This program is aimed at graduates in higher level and who act as teachers, educators or professionals in the education or health services, Science and Technology, such as, the graduates in Science, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Education, Nursing, Physical Education and Physical Therapy. It aims the performance of future teachers in formal spaces of education (universities and schools) or in non-formal spaces (communities and organizations) in the area of Science and Health, assigning the title of Master to all who fulfill the credits and the didactic-scientific requirements of the course.
Fields of Research
Teaching and Learning in Health and Natural Sciences: This line is characterized by the investigation of issues relating to the processes of teaching and learning of facts, concepts and procedures regarding the area of Natural Sciences (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) and health, at different stages of Basic Education and Higher Education, aiming at the development of scientific literacy. In the investigations the contemporary trends are considered of Science and Health teaching , the use of digital technologies and different theoretical and methodological frameworks, with the aim of contributing to the improvement of the quality of teaching in the area in question. This line has the purpose to study the processes of formation – initial or continuing – teachers who teach Natural Sciences and Health, including the curricula of these processes, in close relation with the contexts in which they occur and considering contemporary trends of teacher training. The use of new technologies is one of the fundamental aspects for studies on the formative processes.
Science, Health and Environment: This research line aims to contemplate studies about the teaching of Sciences and Health in environments that are not formal. It has as assumption that the health situation is a collective complex phenomenon , which have different sizes (social, environmental, physical and biological properties) and need to be interpreted in studies on human health. Thus, the issues of quality of life, environment and sustainability should have as focus the study of the technologies associated with the preservation and utilization of the nature, development and innovation of technological apparatus of support and health care. Thus, this research line aims to develop studies about the formation and/or practices of health professionals that promote the teaching about health and disease-prevention, in different territories and non-formal spaces (communities, health centers, non-governmental organizations), through the articulation of the specific knowledge in the area of health, teaching skills and knowledge of the serviced population to promote appropriate approaches. These professionals provide through the interdisciplinary education, the production of advances in health practices, particularly in relation to endemic and epidemic diseases. It is, therefore, a research line that seeks to enlarge the look of professionals on the complexity of the phenomenon health-disease-care, providing a dialog with the main contemporary approaches in Public Health.
